Whenever I create a card, I tend to go for layers, embossing folders, dies cuts and foam adhesive to add various heights and textures to my cards. I hate to admit it, but it’s been a very long time since I’ve done what is known as a #SimpleStamping card. Cards that fall into this category typically focus on stamping itself without the use of other crafting techniques or tools, allowing the beauty of the stamped images to come through.
I’ve had my eye on the Very Versailles stamp set for well over a year. I’m not sure what took me so long to buy it, but now that I have, I wish I would’ve done it long ago! It’s a very versatile set, even if you aren’t in love with every stamp included. Since I just received it, I chose it as the focus of my Triple 1 Challenge. What is this all about? Triple 1 means: 1 Stamp Set, 1 Ink Pad and 1 Color Cardstock. What could I create with only one of each?
Here’s my creation! I love the monochromatic look and I’m very excited about how it turned out. Moment of truth? This was not my first and last card. I created one that had a very similar look, but without the color added to the background. Thankfully, along with my new stamp set I also received a set of Stampin’ Up! blending brushes! So, grabbing a fresh piece of Very Vanilla card stock, I loaded up my brush with Misty Moonlight (one of our In Colors) and started swirling the brush onto scratch paper first before going on the cardstock. Why? Because you don’t want a harsh brush of ink straight on your cardstock. By starting on scratch paper as you move onto the cardstock, it helps offload some of the ink for a more even coverage.
TIP? Practice this technique on typing paper or an inexpensive drawing pad (think Dollar Tree) before trying it on your card.
Is my card perfect? No, and no card ever is, but I’m extremely happy with the result and I will definitely try more Triple 1 challenges again.
